An Ignition Sabers Ocularis hilt transformed into 'Moby Dick: The Great White Whale' — featuring custom etching, external hilt painting and curing. A dream project with a very bumpy install and customizing road (read bottom).
A dream saber project with a very expensive installer and customization turned out to be a nightmare that required fixing: poor engineering logic with a too large speaker forced-fit into the chassis bulging the metal sleeve causing the nuts securing the rotating track to overrun, and leading to broken wires, and a chassis that cannot fit. The repairer installer had to save 1.5mm off the pommel and also secure the chassis connector down.
This installer wrote a 3 page emotional email insisting that he was absolutely not emotional and that I wasn't being constructive in asking about the 'engineering logic' behind how the various parts of the install was assembled and move.
The lesson here is: when an installer gets popular his work becomes shoddy, and he defensive and desperate to keep up his reputational appearances. NEVER AGAIN with this guy. A USD1350 install+custom work.
